Lori is looking forward to teaching preschool at St. Robert Catholic School and can’t wait to meet all of her students as she prepares for the next school year this fall. Get to know Lori a little better with this Q&A.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in the new school year?
A: What I am most looking forward to this new school year is being part of creating a unique STEM based program rooted in the foundation of God’s love; becoming part of a team and community with common goals in mind; and getting into an innovative classroom filled with lots of children ready to learn, play, and have fun!! I’m also really looking forward to developing good relationships with our school families.
Q: Who is your favorite saint?
A: My favorite saint is St. Therese of Lisieux (The Little Flower). I love that she had such a strong devotion to God at an early age. She loved flowers and so do I. I love that she referenced herself as a flower in God’s garden, “her beautiful little self giving glory to God among all the others in the garden.”
Q: Who inspires you?
A: I am inspired by so many people, but quite honestly my Husband Mark inspires me most. I have known my husband since I was seventeen and you can only imagine how much we have been through. What inspires me is his constant dedication, determination and love he has for his family. No matter how busy, he always takes the time to listen, share his knowledge and help out when needed. The characteristics he demonstrates are what I strive for as a teacher. I want to be the teacher that always has time to listen and help.
Q: What would you tell prospective parents about their child’s educational experience?
A: What I tell parents about their child’s educational experience is that we are in this together. It’s not easy sending your child off to school to a teacher you barely know and a classroom filled with new faces. I want parents to know we are here to help navigate the preschool world together. This is a time to build relationships with other families as your children build friendships at preschool. It’s a time to enjoy your child becoming more independent and knowledgeable about the world around them.
Q: What has teaching taught you?
A: Teaching has taught me to never have any preconceived ideas or expectations. I am always humbled through my experiences with children.
Q: What most excites you about instituting a STEM focused curriculum?
A: What excites me most about STEM is how active students get to be during the learning process. Students get to learn through play and exploration.
